Everything changes when Rose introduces her to Father Flood, a priest who wants to help Eilis immigrate to America to find work.Overall, throughout the novel “Brooklyn” the author Colm Toibin demonstrates traditional criticism through emphasizing the similarities between the non-existent father figures of Colm and Eilis, how Eilis is an extension of Colm’s own immigrant travels throughout his life, and the time that Colm lived in when a child was represented in the setting throughout Brooklyn as well.
